R&D and Intellectual Property ScoreboardBenchmarking innovation in Australian enterprisesJanuary 2010 (download 2007 scoreboard : PDF file) c. 4MB low resolution PDF file Innovation underpins our social progress. For Australia, innovation enhances national competitiveness and gives rise to new exports for goods and services. In a world where competition is increasingly fueled by new knowledge it serves us well to develop quantitative measures of innovation activity. Capital Technic Group (CTG) has taken this opportunity to continue the R&D and Intellectual Property Scoreboard that had ceased publication with the Financial Year 2006 publication by IPRIA. CTG’s shared vision with IPRIA to map organisations whose contributions to innovation provide a leading role in corporate performance in Australia is the basis for our collaboration. CTG shares a vision with many other companies investing in innovation to make Australia more productive and competitive. Rapidly expanding the creation of new knowledge and synthesising new business models is an imperative as our economy continues to evolve based on advanced skills and technologies. In publishing the R&D and Intellectual Property Scoreboard for 2007 CTG with IPRIA have recommenced an important longitudinal data series that will again be available as a resource to industry, researchers and government policy makers. Our capacity for invention and discovery depends on the strength of our national innovation system, and this publication contributes to the measurement of contributions by organisations committed to innovation. The publication of the 2008 and 2009 series is imminent in 2010 and will ensure that this series will be up to date on a yearly basis. As the new publisher CTG is also committed to innovating with this series and additional measurement platforms will be launched in 2010. Within this publication are featured profiles on 12 innovative organisations, each providing a specific business service to firms in the innovation value chain, spanning technology planning, research and development, industrial design, manufacturing, venture funding, international IP licensing, software systems and other advanced capabilities. These organisations are in the business of working with other innovative firms in the quest for a fairer, richer, healthier and greener Australia that can meet the challenges and grasp the opportunities of the twenty-first century. CTG trusts that this publication will assist key decision makers.
